Parliamentary Motion – Away Ticket Price Cap

25 February 2026

The Falkirk Supporters Society Board welcomes the parliamentary motion in the name of Gillian Mackay which recognises the contribution of football fans across our country and calls for action to address the cost of away tickets via a price cap.

As a vehicle for fan voice, both within the club and across Scottish football as a whole, we are keen to explore any measures which support travelling fans to continue backing their club.

Scottish football is unique in its atmosphere, passion and authenticity. Treating fans as partners can only increase the game’s value to broadcasters and sponsors, but fans must always come first. A price cap would certainly help achieve this.

Clubs need to stop squeezing football fans, and must seriously consider how they can better support affordable ticket prices. The details on the level of price points, league wide caps, or bilateral agreements between clubs should all remain on the table to be explored – recognising that this remains a decision which should ultimately be taken by the clubs.

The FSS Board believes it is important that our own position is shaped by the views of our members, and we will therefore look to engage further with supporters to gather their opinions on what any approach could look like in practice for our club.
We encourage MSPs to support the principle of the motion and welcome the opportunity for supporters’ voices to be heard on this issue.
